CBD Canabidiol

CBD is growing in popularity? But what in the world is it actually...

What is CBD?

So before we start talking about CBD, and its popularity we need to understand what it actually is. CBD or Cannabidiol is a cannabis compound, one of many active cannabinoids that have been recognized in cannabis. Most popular compound in cannabis is widely recognizes as THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, this is the magic compound that we all love and know of and one of the main and most important compounds in cannabis. But there are a number of other important cannabinoids in cannabis, the number of identified in cannabis is in the hundreds. One of those many compounds is CBD.

Another useful thing to note is that when you compare two major types of marijuana, ‘Sativa’ vs. ‘Indica,’ you realize Indica’s have a higher CBD to THC ratio than Sativa’s. CBD is a structural isomer of THC, basically the molecular formula for it is the same as THC but it is just bonded differently, basically there is a ring ‘carbon ring’ that opens or closes, if it is opened it is CBD, if closed it is THC.

What does CBD do?

CBD has a wide range of applications because it is not psychoactive like THC, and does not interfere with psychomotor learning and psychological functions. It has anti-seizure properties, as well as pain-relieving properties, anticancer properties, helps with inflammation and pain. In fact it counteracts the psychoactive effects

of THC, and helps limit and deal with the anxiety THC can sometime initiate. CBD has also shown scope in treatment of arthritis, PTSD, depression, epilepsy and other neurological disorders. CBD is also used to help with diabetes and prevent diabetic neuropathy, which is a large cause of blindness in America.

How to administer CBD?

CBD can be found in many marijuana strains, some strains with equal amounts of CBD and THC, and some with a greater or lower percentage of CBD. These strains can be found in herbal forms, oils, waxes, and edibles.

CBD is also available by itself in forms such as balms, edibles, powder, waxes, and oils, and liquid additives. One of the leading methods of CBD intake is CBD oils ‘CBD vape oil’ and CBD liquid additives. CBD oil can be easily found online, and is legal within the states. A number of sites online retail CBD oil and CBD liquid additives along with vape pens and cartridges especially designed for CBD oils.
